DESCRIPTION:~SOLD OUT!~\nNext training scheduled for April or May 2020 (Exact dates TBD by January).\n  \nThe FAME Educator Training is a 3-day event: Friday – Sunday\, Nov. 8-10\, 2019 | 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. each day \nLocation: Helfgott Research Institute of NUNM\, 2220 SW First Avenue Portland\, Map and directions \n  \nThe Food as Medicine Everyday (FAME) Educator Training will prepare qualified educators to successfully implement a 12-week community-based whole-foods nutrition program: the Food as Medicine Everyday (FAME) series.  Because a foundation in nutrition is required to teach the FAME series\,* those eligible to be FAME Educators are licensed naturopathic physicians\, masters of science in nutrition practitioners\, as well as other healthcare providers vetted and approved by the Food As Medicine Institute (FAMI). \n*This program is not designed for community members and does not teach a foundation in nutrition science. The FAME Educator Training is designed to teach qualified health professionals to teach the FAME series in their own communities. If you are a community member looking for cooking or nutrition education\, please click here for more information about our Food as Medicine Everyday (FAME) workshops available. \n**NUNM students may take this training if they are a graduating ND or MScN in 2020. \nPlease visit the FAME Educator Training Program page for more information about what it means to be FAME Educator. \n  \nTO REGISTER:\n\nNUNM Students – please register via your usual class SONIS registration methods for the Fall 2019 term. The title of the course is Food as Medicine in the Community and the course # is GSN558E.  Instructor approval is required for this class\, and we will be in touch with you to set up an interview.\nAll other interested participants (non students) – please visit the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) admissions web page for “Non-Degree Seeking Students” and follow the necessary steps. For the required form\, the title of the course is Food as Medicine Everyday Educator Training and the course # is GSN558E.  Please contact FAMI Nutrition Coordinator Julie Marks at jmarks@nunm.edu for instructor signature information on your form.   The FAME Educator Training Program is CE approved for 13 CEU’s where applicable.\n\nStudents: Once you’re registered\, the Food as Medicine Institute (FAMI) will contact you to set up an interview to confirm you are approved for the class. \nNon-students: If we have not already spoken with you\, you will be contacted by email to confirm you are a qualified health practitioner for the training. \nFor all participants\, an email with additional logistics on the training and what to expect for the weekend will follow closer to the training dates.
